Shana Dancer

Shana Dancer

Licensed Masters Social Worker and Certified Yoga Teacher

Shana Dancer is the founder of ZENlightenment Wellness Center, in addition to being a Licensed Masters Social Worker and Certified Yoga Teacher. Her background in mental health began in her late adolescence when she decided that it was her life purpose to speak for those that did not have a voice. Upon graduation from Olivet College with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice in 2014, she explored her education further by obtaining her Masters in Social Work from the
University of Southern California in 2016. Since then, she has spent her time counseling individuals, while also encouraging holistic practices, including breathing techniques, changing eating and sleeping habits, and developing healthier relationships, amongst other facets of wellness.

During her time at her undergraduate institution, Shana found yoga. She initially signed up for the class to receive another credit towards her degree and also in hopes to stretch her sore muscles after swimming practice. But, once she learned more about the history of yoga outside of just the physical movements, she fell in love. Shana continued her practice intermittently for the next 6 years, until she finally decided to become a certified yoga instructor in 2019. Since that time, she has completed her 200-hour certification in Vinyasa Yoga and additional certifications in Chair Yoga, Pre and Post Natal Yoga, Trauma Focused Yoga, Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga, and Aerial Yoga.

Shana also enjoys being involved in community organizations and events. She is the Vice Chair of the Child Advocacy Gratiot County Substance and Suicide Prevention Program, member of the Child Advocacy Child Abuse and Neglect Program, Board Member of the Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce, member of the Alma Action Association and Middle of the Mitten subcommittees of the aforementioned Chamber, and member of the Gratiot Young Professionals Network.

After being on her physical fitness journey for years and knowing the peace and strength organized fitness can bring to one’s life, Cheryl found ZENlightenment in downtown Alma.

Cheryl started her adult physical fitness journey in college. She found a step aerobics class to “try”. After falling in love with the movement and connection of the class, Cheryl was asked to step into the role as a substitute step aerobics teacher. That was over 20 years ago. Cheryl has taught at Lean and Snap fitness. She is certified in Barre and Tabata. Over 4 years ago Cheryl made the decision to get her personal training certification through the National Council of Certified Personal Trainers. Cheryl specializes in connecting those on their fitness journey at the start or those needing the next step to get to the gym. Cheryl will help you get to that next step. Cheryl will help you on the best ways to build strength and power to help you feel confident to your next steps. Couch to 5K or couch to free weights, it is up to you. Cheryl can help you to be successful to that next step.

Cheryl is a Mindfulness Coach trained by Connection Coalition (Yoga Gangsters). She has facilitated digital and face to face trainings on mindfulness. She is able to help you start your journey or continue your mindfulness journey. She learned breathing techniques and visualization strategies to share as tools as a means to more peace. Struggling with starting your meditation practice? Reach out to Cheryl and connect to feel the power of meditation and intention. Bring more peace to your life.

Throughout her years as an educator and administrator, Cheryl realized a need to support youth through true listening. Learning Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a graduate student opened a new set of learning and behavior support skills for the tool box of help for others for Cheryl. Many people feel not quite right. Many people feel on the wrong path. Many people feel like they are seeking something to make them feel whole. Cheryl wants those people to feel like they are not alone. Cheryl has fine tuned private personalized sessions to help youth see who they are (their identity) and who they want to be to be successful in their life. Sessions will focus on what youth want to delete, add, and revise in their daily life. Sessions build the capacity to do the things that make up their dreams.

Jamie Morrow

Registered Nurse, Certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, Certified Reiki Practitioner, Certified Tai Chi Easy Practice Instructor, Certified Cupping Therapist

Jamie felt called to a career in helping and healing since she was a young child. By the time she was a teenager, she knew her life's passion was in the field of mental health. Jamie had witnessed all around her the impact of trauma on the human body, the mind, the spirit, relationships, and so much more. In 2001, she enrolled in the nursing program at Baker College of Owosso and, before graduation, was offered her dream position as mental health nurse. She graduated with honors in 2004 and made the difficult yet wise decision to obtain five years of medical experience prior to diving into her passion - mental health nursing.

Jamie Morrow

In 2008, while Jamie was pregnant with her youngest child and working at a local hospital, she developed life-threatening neuromuscular symptoms. Determined to survive a terminal prognosis, Jamie sought out holistic healthcare for the first time. This decision would very literally save her life, drastically improve her quality life, healed the hearts of her loved ones, and completely rerouted her career. In July of 2008, Jamie delivered a perfect baby boy and, that fall, very gratefully started her new role as a mental health crisis nurse.

Since 2008, Jamie has dedicated her career to helping those in need prevent, cope with, treat, and/or recover from mental health symptoms. She has worked in a variety of mental wellness settings and, after realizing the need was there, went looking for more ways to help the people she so proudly served. For over a decade, Jamie has lived a holistic lifestyle, surrounded herself with the most respected and experienced holistic mentors, and researched holistic modalities with a focus on holistic mental health. Jamie has obtained several certifications in holistic modalities, including Reiki, Auriculotherapy, Ear Seed Therapy, Cupping Therapy, and Tai Chi.

Today, Jamie is a local holistic business owner who passionately collaborates with other local holistic health professionals for the purpose of increasing health and happiness in the Central Michigan area. She is most passionate about spiritual health, energetic health, gut health and inflammation, as they relate to mental wellness. Her favorite holistic modalities are Reiki and Ear Seed Therapy.
