Shana Dancer

Licensed Masters Social Worker and Certified Yoga Teacher

Shana Dancer is the founder of ZENlightenment â€‹Wellness Center, in addition to being a Licensed Masters Social Worker and Certified Yoga Teacher. Her background in mental health began in her late adolescence when she decided that it was her life's purpose to speak for those that did not have a voice. Upon graduation from Olivet College with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice in 2014, she explored her education further by obtaining her Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2016. Since then, she has spent her time counseling individuals, primarily those that had run-ins with law enforcement, while also encouraging holistic practices without even knowing it! She has often suggested breathing techniques, changing eating and sleeping habits, and developing healthier relationships, amongst other facets of wellness.

During her time at her undergraduate institution, Shana found yoga. She initially signed up for the class to receive yet another credit towards her degree and also in hopes to stretch her sore muscles after hours of swimming practice. But, once she began to learn more about the history of yoga outside of just the physical movements, she fell in love.  Shana continued her practice intermittently for the next 6 years, until she finally decided to become a certified yoga instructor herself in 2019. Since that time she has completed her 200 hour certification in Vinyasa Yoga, Chair Yoga certification to assist those that may not be able to engage in the physical aspects of "traditional" yoga, and Pre and Post Natal Yoga.

In her free time, Shana enjoys spending time with her middle school sweetheart husband and their dog, Gus, reading, and learning more about herself every day.

Jack McConnell

Reiki Practitioner

Jack has a passion for the metaphysical and spiritual wellness as well as the healing ability of being in nature, being in tune to the physical world, and using outside as a healing tool. They are very passionate about their family, friends, and their animals. They are an artist, who delves into any medium, looking to craft and create. They have been down many paths in their life trying to figure out what they want to do, what they need to do and where they want to go, who they are, etc. They have been down a long emotional and physically draining road that led them to start their own healing process.

In doing so, they found Reiki and energy healing, as well as other self-help tools, that with their own willpower, has changed their life. They looked into almost every kind of alternative therapy; they felt like they had tried it all. One day they remembered somebody saying something about a reiki session. They looked it up and one day during their own energy healing session, they were laying there thinking “I really need to do this for other people. I want to help other people heal”.

Ever since then, they have been working on themselves and bringing that energy to other people. They believe wellness is all tied together: spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and energetic wellness… They all work together. And with one piece of the puzzle missing, things start to become unbalanced. They chose to pursue Reiki and energy healing because it feels like a total reset on all those wellnesses. They hope to bring that to people, balancing and clearing the path to motivate people to heal themselves.

Cheryl Irvin

Certified Personal Training Specialist, Certified in Tabata Bootcamp and Barre Above by Savier Fitness, Certified Success Coach, Masters in Literacy K-12, Certified Teacher and School Administrator, and Mindfulness Coach

After being on her physical fitness journey for years and knowing the peace and strength organized fitness can bring to one’s life, Cheryl found ZENlightenment in downtown Alma. Cheryl sees ZENlightenment as a way to  support others that are on their journey to holistic wellness. She feels honored to be a part of the ZENlightenment family. By day Cheryl is a project manager and teacher coach. She has been in education as a teacher and principal for over 20 years. She currently works with coaches that provide services to high school students in a graduation and career program.

Cheryl started her adult physical fitness journey in college. She found a step aerobics class to “try”. After falling in love with the movement and connection of the class, Cheryl was asked to step into the role as a substitute step aerobics teacher. That was over 20 years ago. Cheryl has taught at Lean and Snap fitness. She is certified in Barre and Tabata. Over 4 years ago Cheryl made the decision to get her personal training certification through the National Council of Certified Personal Trainers. Cheryl specializes in connecting those on their fitness journey at the start or those needing the next step to get to the gym. Cheryl will help you get to that next step. Cheryl will help you on the best ways to build strength and power to help you feel confident to your next steps. Couch to 5K or couch to free weights, it is up to you. Cheryl can help you to be successful to that next step.

Cheryl is a Mindfulness Coach trained by Connection Coalition (Yoga Gangsters). She has facilitated digital and face to face trainings on mindfulness. She is able to help you start your journey or continue your mindfulness journey. She learned breathing techniques and visualization strategies to share as tools as a means to more peace. Struggling with starting your meditation practice? Reach out to Cheryl and connect to feel the power of meditation and intention. Bring more peace to your life.

Throughout her years as an educator and administrator, Cheryl realized a need to support youth through true listening. Learning Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a graduate student opened a new set of learning and behavior support skills for the tool box of help for others for Cheryl. Many people feel not quite right. Many people feel on the wrong path. Many people feel like they are seeking something to make them feel whole. Cheryl wants those people to feel like they are not alone. Cheryl has fine tuned private personalized sessions to help youth see who they are (their identity) and who they want to be to be successful in their life. Sessions will focus on what youth want to delete, add, and revise in their daily life. Sessions build the capacity to do the things that make up their dreams.
